The aim of this study was to analyze the validity of Holland’s model of vocational interests in Indigenous people from Mexico using the Self-Directed Search (SDS) test, which was administered to 620 Yaqui students in the years 2019 and 2023. To assess the model fit, the randomization test of hypothesized order relations and multidimensional scaling were employed. The results did not demonstrate a fit to Holland’s model in the total sample, but differences were found in the fit depending on the year of application of the SDS; in the 2019 student sample, no significant fit was obtained, whereas in the 2023 sample, the fit was significant with a moderate-low value. This difference is explained by the acculturation process of this population through increased internet access during the COVID-19 pandemic. Implications for practice of vocational guidance for these students are discussed.
