Promoting Interculturality in education requires, among other things, a balance between legislation, curriculum, and teaching practices. We aim to understand the influences and relationships between legal instruments and the curriculum for intercultural education in Brazil. We conducted a bibliographic study based on the proceedings of the meetings of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd). We included 23 papers, from which we found that the obligation to include Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous knowledge in education influences pedagogical practice. However, only structured initial and continuing education that values critical reflection on the topic will enable the law's effectiveness. Furthermore, the curriculum reveals its potential to value historically neglected histories and cultures. Therefore, based on this curriculum and in light of the legislation, it is possible to establish a teaching strategy that demobilizes the hegemony of the educational model.
