Casual sex is a practice of seeking satisfaction that can entail sexual risks. In this context, the acquisition of social skills can serve as a protective factor. Thus, the present study aimed to confirm the internal structure and seek new indicators of validity for an instrument that relates these two variables, the Sociosexual Skills Inventory (SSI). Initially comprising 18 items, it was administered to 374 heterosexual, cisgender, and single young adults. Through Confirmatory Factor Analysis, a new structure was generated in which items 8 and 10 were suppressed, but the factors Direct Sociosexual Skills (α=.81; ω=.82) and Indirect Sociosexual Skills (α=.78; ω=.79) were retained. Thus, the SSI can assist in identifying sociosexual repertoire and approach style and evaluate the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic or psychosocial interventions.
