Se investigó el control que adquiere un estímulo neutral sobre la distribución temporal del beberinducido por el programa. Con este propósito se expuso a ratas privadas de alimento a unprograma de reforzamiento de intervalo fijo 64 s conforme al cual se reforzó el palanqueo conbolitas de comida; concurrentemente cada presión a una segunda palanca dispensó 0.4 ml de agua.En condiciones sucesivas se varió la ubicación temporal de un estímulo (tono y luz) de 8 s delprincipio hacia el final del intervalo entre reforzadores (Secuencia Principio-Final) o viceversa(Secuencia Final-Principio). Se probaron ocho ubicaciones temporales del estímulo: 0-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32, 33-40, 41-48, 49-56 y 57-64 s. Para todos los sujetos, las presiones a la palanca poragua se distribuyeron como una U-invertida con un máximo que varió dependiendo de laubicación del estímulo dentro del intervalo. Cuando el estímulo se presentó hacia la mitad delintervalo (25-32 y 33-40 s) se encontraron dobles picos del responder por agua. Globalmente,estos hallazgos apoyan la sugerencia de López y Bruner (2003) de que el control que adquiere unestímulo neutral sobre la distribución del consumo de agua depende del segmento que el estímulointercepta.
The control by a neutral stimulus on the temporal distribution of schedule-induced drinking was investigated. With this purpose, food-deprived rats were exposed to a 64-s fixed-interval schedule according to which lever pressing was reinforced with food pellets, and concurrently each press on a second lever dispensed 0.4 ml of water. In successive conditions, the temporal location of an 8-s stimulus (tone and light) was varied from the beginning to the end of the inter-food interval (Beginning-End Sequence) or vice versa (End-Beginning Sequence). Eight temporal locations of the stimulus were tested: 0-8, 9-16, 17-24, 25-32, 33-40, 41-48, 49-56, and 57-64 s. For all subjects, lever-pressing for water distributed as an inverted U-function with a maximum that varied depending on the location of the stimulus within the interval. When the stimulus was presented in the middle of the interval (25-32 and 33-40 s) double peaks of the response for water were found. In general, these findings support the suggestion by López and Bruner (2003) that the control acquired by a neutral stimulus on the temporal distributions of water consumption depends on the portion that the stimulus intercepted.
