Se ha comparado la eficacia de cuatro detectores locales de cambios de intensidad: el operador de Sobel, el de Prewitt, el de Roberts y el laplaciano.
Para la prueba se han utilizado figuras geométricas simuladas por el ordenador, lo que ha permitido generar bordes con distintas formas, pendientes, orientaciones y niveles de ruido, e imágenes naturales. Ambos grupos de imágenes han sido también filtradas por operadores gaussianos de distinto tamaño, a fin de estudiar el comportamiento de los detectores con imágenes a diferentes niveles de resolución.
La comparación se ha llevado a cabo mediante un conjunto de medidas, unas cualitativas y otras cuantitativas, para las imágenes geométricas, y mediante comparación visual, para las naturales.
Los resultados indican que las diferencias fundamentales que presentan los operadores son su distinta sensibilidad al ruido y la anchura de los bordes que detectan.
It was compared the performance of four local intensity changes detectors: Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts and Laplacian operators.
For the test, it was used computer simulated geometrical figures which made possible to generate edges with different shapes, slopes, orientations and noise levels, and natural images. Both groups of images were filtered too by a set of different size Gaussian operators to study the detectors behavior with images at different resolution levels.
The comparison was done by using quantitative and qualitative measures, for the geometrical images, and by visual judgment, for the natural ones.
The results showed that the principal differences between the operators are their noise sensitivity and the edges wideness they detects.
