A terapia familiar foi introduzida em Portugal em 1977 e utiliza-se para ajudar a modificar processos de comunicação e de interação familiares, que promovam a funcionalidade da família enquanto sistema. São várias as correntes desta terapia, de onde se destacam as três perspetivas da Escola Clássica: Terapia Estrutural de Minuchin, Modelo estratégico da Escola de Palo Alto e Modelo Transgeracional de Bowen. Deve reconhecer-se que os modelos clássicos de intervenção assumem particular interesse nas intervenções de enfermagem de saúde familiar. Neste enquadramento, foi realizada uma revisão narrativa da literatura com o objetivo de explorar a forma como a terapia familiar, com foco na transgeracionalidade, pode ser utilizada nas intervenções de enfermagem de saúde familiar. Numa perspetiva sistémica, quando o indivíduo está doente, todo o sistema familiar padece pelo que a abodagem da enfermagem de saúde familiar não deve cingir-se à pessoa doente, mas, sim, a toda a família, onde se investigue a causa da doença, relacionando-a com o fator de transgeracionalidade familiar.
Family therapy was introduced in Portugal in 1977 and is used to help modify family communication and interaction processes that promote the family functionality as a system. There are various currents of this therapy, of which the three perspectives of the Classical School standout: Minuchin’s Structural Therapy, the Palo Alto School’s Strategic Model, and Bowen’s Transgenerational Model. It should be recognized that the classic intervention models are of particular interest in family health nursing interventions. Within thisframework,a narrativereview of theliterature wascarried out to explore how familytherapy, focusing on transgenerationality, can be used in family health nursing interventions. From a systemic perspective, when an individual is ill, the whole family system suffers, so the approach of family health nursing should not be limited to the ill person, but to the whole family, where the cause of the illness is investigated, relating it to the factor of family transgenerationality.
