La Revista Puertorriqueña de Psicología (reps) comienza el 2023 como una revista cuatrimes-tral. Con tres publicaciones por año (primavera, verano y diciembre), tiene como propósito proveer una mayor oportunidad para publica-ciones en temas variados, al mismo tiempo, dedicar un espacio para un tema de interés especial para nuestra junta editorial y/o de interés y premura social. Este editorial lo he titulado “Más allá de las Teorías” porque nos encontramos en un momento histórico donde las teorías se quedan en un vacío si no logra-mos atender la compleja realidad que estamos viviendo en diferentes niveles. Nos enfrenta-mos a una crisis climática, inflación que agrava las desigualdades sociales, pobreza, inseguri-dad alimentaria, un ambiente de intolerancia, racismo, aumento en feminicidios, gentrifica-ción, desplazamiento, criminalidad, corrupción gubernamental, entre otros tantos problemas sociales que están afectando la salud mental de nuestra sociedad y sin un plan coherente y coordinado del gobierno para atenderlos.
The Puerto Rican Journal of Psychology (reps) begins 2023 as a quarterly journal. With three publications per year (spring, summer and winter), serves the purpose to provide better opportunity for publications on diverse topics, at the same time, dedicating an issue for a special topic of interest for the editorial board and/or of social relevance. I have titled my editorial note “Beyond the Theories” because we find ourselves in a historical moment where theories remain in a vacuum if we fail to address the complex reality that we are experiencing at all levels. We are facing a climate crisis, inflation that aggravates social inequalities, poverty, food insecurity, an environment of intolerance, racism, an in-crease in femicide, gentrification, displace-ment, crime, government corruption, among many other social problems that are affecting mental health in our society and without a coherent government plan to tackle them.
