This article aims to analyze the tensions experienced by fishermen from three different fishing areas and the way they live the memories of a time of abundance, in which their activity was facilitated by the abundance of fish. Reliving those memories and rethinking the environmental changes which occurin their fishing areas, because of the emergence of industrial fishing and the use of extremely aggressive techniques, is fundamental to understand today’s social issues. The aggressive fishing techniques not only capture large quantities of fish at once,but they also endanger the environment, where many of these species reproduce. From the memories of abundance come a time of shortage that should be not ignored because it reflects social tensions in a time of aggressive capitalism.
O presente artigo objetiva analisar as tensões vivenciadas por pescadores artesanais de três diferentes espaços de pesca, e a forma como os mesmos vivenciam memórias ligadas a um tempo de fartura, no qual o trabalho do pescador era facilitado devido a abundância do pescado. Revisitar essas memórias e repensar as próprias mudanças ambientais que ocorrem nas áreas de pesca, com o surgimento da pesca industrial e do uso de técnicas extremamente agressivas, que não só capturam quantidades maiores de peixe, como colocam em risco o próprio ambiente no qual muitas dessas espécies utilizam para se reproduzir. Da abundância que ficou somente na memória, surge um tempo de escassez que não deve ser ignorado, pois reflete tensões sociais em tempos de capitalismo agressivo
