La Tía Tula es la historia de una mujer que quiere ser madre, sin ser esposa, en la España de los años sesenta del pasado siglo, donde se venera el culto a la Virgen María, a la castidad como modelo y al matrimonio como condición sine qua non para la honrada relación sexual entre hombres y mujeres, con una única finalidad: la procreación.
Su intransigente negativa a aceptar este modelo la convierten en Diosa Virgen de la Soledad, pero no será la única. Su reivindicación plasma un modelo de actuación con el que todavía hoy se sigue polemizando.
La Tia Tula is the story of a woman who wants to become a mother without being married. The film is set in the sixties in Spain, where the cult of the Virgin Mary is venerated, along with chastity as the model to follow and marriage as the sine qua non condition for the honest sexual relationship between men and women, with only one finality: procreation. Her intransigent refusal to accept this model turns her into the Goddess Virgin of Solitude, the first of many. Her demand reflects a way of acting which we still argue about today.
