A prevención do consumo de drogas estivo tradicionalmente baseada en mensaxes avulsas mediante as cales se trataba de dicirlle ao suxeito o que é bo ou malo para el. Deste xeito, a prevención estaba nun estado precientífico ao guiarse máis por boas intencións e prexuízos do que por evidencias científicas. A redución de riscos e danos do consumo de substancias psicoactivas parte da realidade de que o consumo de drogas é un fenómeno continuo na historia da humanidade que non ten visos próximos de acabarse e que é con esa realidade coa que se debe traballar desde unha fundamentación científica e non moralista. Desde este paradigma considérase que a persoa é responsábel de si mesma e libre para decidir o que considera mellor para ela. O Proxecto Creative, como programa de redución de riscos, trata de incidir na responsabilidade individual á hora de consumir substancias psicoactivas, reforzando a abstinencia e fomentando e potenciando a información así como ofrecendo as ferramentas necesarias para que as decisións podan ser tomadas con criterio e coñecemento.

From this paradigm is considered that the person is responsible for herself and free to decide what is what considers better for her. Proxecto Creative, as a program of risk reduction, tries to affect in the individual responsibility at the time of consuming psicoactives substances, reinforcing the abstinence and promoting the information as well as offering the necessary tools for that the decisions prune to be taken with criterion and knowledge.
