A sample of children diagnosed as Attention Deficit Disorder was divided in groups according to de DSM-IV-R criteria: combined, predominantly inattentive and predominantly hyperactive-impulsive. Several tasks of sustained attention and inhibition responses were administered: the Stop-Signal paradigm and two versions of the Continuous Performance Test (A-X and inhibition versions). The results supports the hypotheses derived from Barkley´s model (1997) for the ADHD. The children from the combined and hyperactive-impulsive groups showed more difficulties in sustaining attention and inhibiting responses than the group with predominance of attention deficit.
