Puerto Rico
In Puerto Rico, it is difficult to get people to participate on research projects. This study presents data based on a 12 session intervention, that took place between 1997 and 1999 with HIV+ homosexual gay men (n=50). Thirty four percent of the participants did not attend the intervention, 36% attended partially, and 30% attended all sessions. The participants´ age and the duration of the intervention were associated with attendance to the groups. Younger partipants attended to less sessions than older partipants. The shorter version of the intervention had a better attendance than the longer version. Some of the obstacles that impeded people to attend the intervention were: health conditions, side effects of the medication, weather conditions, and logistics to get to the meeting place.
