In this current society, Internet provides us, at all times, with all the information we need and multiplies our possibilities of communication and development of tasks in cyberspace. In this framework, the �bimodal curriculum� gives us a framework of reference, clear and easy to apply, to reorient Education in this new socio-cultural context. Its purpose is to provide students with more adequate training concerning the social requirements and including, among others, the development of competences connected with taking advantage of Internet. Moreover, the application of these new methods to teaching, learning and assessing will also contribute to significantly reduce academic failure. The �bimodal curriculum� represents that students basically carry out two kinds of learning activities: �memorizing� and �carrying out practical activities� to apply knowledge; and it prescribes that, when carrying out these �practical activities� they can always use their �auxiliary memory�, which will consist of their notes and can include books and access to Internet
En la societat actual, Internet facilita en tot moment la informació que necessitem i multiplica les nostres possibilitats de comunicació i de realització de tasques en el ciberespai. En aquest marc, el �currículum bimodal� proporciona un marc de referència, clar i senzill d�aplicar, per a reorientar l�Educació en aquest nou context sociocultural. El seu propòsit és proporcionar a l�alumnat una formació més adient als requeriments socials i que inclogui, entre altres, el desenvolupament de les competències associades a l�aprofitament d�Internet. A més a més, l�aplicació d�aquestes noves metodologies a l�ensenyament, l�aprenentatge i l�avaluació també contribuirà a reduir de manera significativa el fracàs escolar. El �currículum bimodal� contempla que els estudiants bàsicament realitzen dos tipus d�activitats d�aprenentatge: �memoritzar� i �fer activitats pràctiques� d�aplicació de coneixements. I prescriu que, quan facin aquestes �activitats pràctiques�, sempre puguin utilitzar la seva �memòria auxiliar�, que estarà constituïda pels seus apunts, i que també pot incloure la consulta de llibres i l�accés a Internet
