The correspondence which is conserved in the Larguier des Bancels' collection at the University of Lausanne shows a little known side of Binet's character: we see him running single-handedly the Année Psychologique, negotiating contracts with successive publishers, recruting collaborators � some of them were to become close friends � bringing all his influence to bear on the editorial orientations of his review even if that meant the occasional compromise with the publisher.
The loyal admiration which he inspired in a small circle of collaborators such as Simon and Larguier des Bancels lead them, after his death, to complete and carry out the volume he had been preparing, and to refuse to join the new team formed under Piéron, after 1912.
