Este trabajo tiene como objetivo establecer la "imagen" que el personal médico y de enfermería tienen de la enfermedad crónica, y del enfermo crónico, dentro del marco de una investigación más amplia que pretende relacionar la representación de la enfermedad y del enfermo crónico de estos profesionales sanitarios con su práctica educativa. De acuerdo con los resultados, los profesionales sanitarios estudiados tienen una representación del paciente crónico y de la enfermedad crónica que es bastante uniforme y que conlleva básicamente características negativas: vejez, dependencia, incompetencia y discapacidad.
The goal of this work is to establish the "image" or social representation of the chronic illness and of the chronic sick person that the medical and nursing staff have, within the frame of a wider investigation that pretends relate this representations of the health care providers with their educational practice. In accordance with the results, the health care professionals have a representation of chronic patient and of the chronic illness that is quite uniform, and basically entails negative characteristics: old age, dependence, incompetence and disability.
