En el presente trabajo se realiza una introducción sobre los tumores infantiles, sus tratamientos y las consecuencias de estos. Se revisan estudios que evalúan los déficits neuropsicológicos secundarios a la quimioterapia y radioterapia, en niños diagnosticados de leucemias y tumores cerebrales. Presentamos un caso de un niño diagnosticado de meduloblastoma, tratado con cirugía, radioterapia y quimioterapia. Se ha llevado a cabo una evaluación psicológica del niño y su familia. Se le realiza además una evaluación neuropsicológica a los dos, tres y cuatro años de finalizado el tratamiento, y se compara su rendimiento académico con el que tenía antes de que la enfermedad fuera diagnosticada. En esta evaluación hemos encontrado déficits cognitivos que son similares a los que aparecen en otros estudios realizados sobre este mismo área.
In the present work an introduction about the pediatric tumors, their treatments and the consequences of both is made. Different works that assess the neuropsychological deficits secondary to chemotherapy and radiotherapy in children diagnosed of leukemia and brain tumors are revised. We present the case of a child who was diagnosed of meduloblastoma and treated with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. A psychological assessment of the child and his family has been carried out. Neuropsychological assessments has also been performed two, three and four years after the end of the treatment, and his academical performance has been compared with the one he had before the disease was diagnosed. We have found in this assessment cognitive deficits that are similar to the deficits that appear in other studies carried out about the same subject.
