Leadership and human talent management are fundamental to the smooth functioning of public and privateorganizations. The objective of the study was to examine the existing literature on leadership and talentmanagement in public administration in order to identify the types of evidence available in the selected field.Searches were conducted in Web of Science, Scopus, and Scielo; 15 articles were included, following the PRISMAScRrecommendations to ensure the quality of the research. Most of the research was conducted in Europe, andarticles were found with samples from individuals and organizations. There was a greater tendency to conductnon-experimental correlational and experimental studies between independent and dependent variables, butwith fewer studies involving intervening variables. In addition, a preference was found for transformationalleadership, a key factor for public management and a positive work environment, as well as for inclusive, supportive, ethical, authentic, and effective leadership. It is concluded that the research combines quantitativeand qualitative methodologies to contrast the results of studies in individual and institutional samples.
