What could be the meaning of Christianity beyond its most traditional interpretation? This article suggests that it could be an invitation to deify our flesh rather than despise it. Indeed, the God of Christianity does not remain beyond our physical reach but is incarnated in a human body as a tangible transcendence living among us on this Earth. One of the main challenges for Christians is therefore how to care for, transform, transfigure, resurrect and share their bodies, taking them from mere somas or corpses to divine flesh. Jesus offers many examples of such behaviour towards the body or bodies. However, those who are supposed to represent him and ensure his legacy do not take into account or transmit, at least sufficiently, this crucial aspect of his teaching; in fact, Eastern traditions introduce us more into the cultivation of our sensory perceptions and the spiritualisation of our bodies. Another Christian path should be respect for the transcendence of the other as naturally different, which requires education about our sexual identity in order to pave the way for respect for absolute sensitive transcendence. A striking aspect of Jesus' life is also the continuous presence of nature, nature as cosmos but also the nature that human beings are and share. Nature, which is generally considered an important component in pagan cults, is the most constant factor in the incarnation of the Christian God and in Jesus' way of speaking and acting. Now, nature can be shared by all as the teaching of Jesus and his commandment regarding love, which makes Christianity a potentially democratic religion capable of crossing cultural boundaries. These are, therefore, elements of a Christian heritage that deserve to be considered, as are the arts and culture it has inspired, before surrendering them to the benefit of science, technology, and a life without absolute transcendence to which we can turn in our development and flourishing as human beings.
