The ecological crisis and its resulting climate crisis represent a threat to all living beings in many areas. In this article, we will review the negative repercussions of these crises on the mental health of the population. We will distinguish four possible consequences: complications of a pre-existing mental disorder; intense and transient emotional reactions following a natural disaster; the onset of persistent emotional disorders; and life-related worries or anxieties about the current and/or future situation. Studies show that these repercussions are highly significant and should be taken into account by mental health professionals. Finally, we will discuss the beneficial effects on our health when we come into contact with nature.
