For this work, we focus on the concordant readings between Freud and Kelly regarding the therapeutic process, addressing their theoretical and practical approaches. To this end, we highlight how narratives must be transformed so that they cease to be symptomatic and thus allow for therapeutic discharges that are not premature. Therefore, transference, meaning, and constructions are the central axes of the therapeutic process in both authors. In conclusion, Freud and Kelly warn us that as therapists we can fall into various misconceptions by relying excessively on what the patient says explicitly.
