This article analyses the film Mantícora (2022) based on an excerpt from the sessions that Luis Martín Arias devoted to his Seminar on Film Analysis (2024). This is especifically seen in the fourth session, in which he makes a brief note about the sinister as ´that which presents itself as unfamiliar´. This definition will help us to describe the strangeness with which the drive can appear to the subject in opposition to the familiar as the recognisable, that which can be represented, or the image which the subject recognises themsel ves and their reality.
