We analyse the Duino Elegies (Rilke, 1923) using the psychoanalytic metod of textual analysis. We search for the primary Scenes and observe their proximity to the centre of each Elegy taken as a unit. Taken as a whole, the metaphorical transformations have a strong sensoty component that determines a great metonymic potential. Both operations articulate processes of transformation that facilitate the renewal of the point of view, that is, the emergence of a Subject reborn after the fall of the Ego.

The prefominant figures are metaphorical, establishing great tension with opposites and forming strong analogies. The angel, the song, the mother, the father, the newborn child, the tree, the hero, spring, the bird, the abysmal lover, the ascension fo metaphorical enunciation after the fall of the enunciator like ripe fruit on the earth.

In opposition, we have silence, the heart, crying, the mirror, the son, the fruit, the grave, summer, the valley, language, intimate death, and rain.
