En 2021 retomó dicho papel en un montaje en el Theatre Royal Windsor. En 2024 se estrenó una filmación de la obra cuyo rodaje aprovechó diferentes emplazamientos del susodicho teatro. Un protagonista veterano tiene más recursos, pero ¿añade algo al mito del hijo vengativo fuera de un cuerpo ajado por los años? Con trasgresiones en el conjunto del reparto en cuanto a razas y sexos. Ante tal planteamiento, intento comprobar si el proyecto queda lastrado por un posible exceso ideológico.
One of the last cinematic Hamlet revolves around an octogenarian actor, Ian McKellen, a consummate specialist in Shakespearean interpretations. He played the Danish prince back in 1971 and in 2021 he reprised the role in a production at the Theatre Royal Windsor. In 2024, a film of the play was premiered at various locations in the theatre. A veteran protagonist has more resources, but does he add anything to the myth of the vengeful son outside of a body worn out by years? There is considered to be transgressions in the cast in terms of race and gender. Faced with such an approach, I try to check whether the project is weighed down by a possible ideological excess.
