Years of community work in the field of mental health have taught us that the real alternative to the inadequacies of reform processes does not lie in the closure of psychiatric hospitals, nor in the better use of drugs or psychotherapy. If we see the clinic as a construc-tion of possibilities, then mental health facilities should be constituted as a multiplicity of spaces/opportunities in constant evolution; spaces of life and not 'non-places' that include the psychic sufferer in the therapeutic process and the first-person expertise in the thera-peutic team. It has taught us the need for another clinical practice that accounts for subjec-tivity, the social context, but also the social determination of health and the political context
