The objective of this study was to examine the discriminative capacity of the Internalizing subscale of the TriA and its facets, as well as to assess the diagnostic accuracy indicators for depressive and anxious individuals. Depressive and anxiety disorders are the most prevalent mental disorders, affecting millions of people worldwide. A total of 359 Brazilian adults participated in the study by responding to the TriA, the GAD-7, and the CES-D. Both pathological groups (depressive and anxious) obtained higher scores on the Internalizing subscale of the TriA compared to the healthy group, with a large effect size. The subscale showed an AUC of .95 and .96 for anxiety and depression, respectively. The cutoff point of 1.87 for anxiety demonstrated a specificity of .76 and a sensitivity of .92, while for depression, the cutoff point of 2.04 showed a specificity of .84 and a sensitivity of .93. The results indicate satisfactory performance of the Internalizing subscale in discriminating depressive and anxious individuals and excellent sensitivity. Thus, it can be used as a complementary instrument for diagnostic investigation.
