Partiendo de la constatación del aumento de la población de ancianos en los países más desarrollados, este artículo trata de ofrecer un marco coherente para entender desde un punto de vista psicológico el fenómeno del envejecimiento, cuya multidimensionalidad hace aconsejable analizar la evolución de los distintos dominios del ser humano de forma independiente a la par que relacionada.
Taking into account the progressive increase of the elder population in the developed countries, this work tries to show a coherent framework in order to understand the psychological aspects of the aging process. Because of this process is a multidimensional one, it seems advisable to analize the evolution of the human being's different domains both in an independent as well as in a related way.
