El territorio de la provincia de Petorca en Chile, visibiliza los efectos devastadores del cambio climático agravado en las últimas décadas con la expansión de la industria agroexportadora y minera. Basados en un enfoque cualitativo, se realizaron seis entrevistas semiestructuradas sedentarias y dos entrevistas caminadas con dos escuelas y dos organizaciones locales rurales; luego se analizó temáticamente sus discursos a partir de sus dimensiones cognitivas, afectivas, disposicionales y comportamentales de la conciencia ambiental (CA). Los hallazgos dan cuenta que las experiencias autobiográficas y su dimensión afectiva, son elementos estructurales en las disposiciones adaptativas para afrontar la escasez hídrica del territorio mucho más que aspectos puramente cognitivos. Se concluye que la CA analizada en los y las entrevistados(as) manifiestan la intersección de elementos experienciales y afectivos, los cuales agregan una significación tan profunda como compleja a las disposiciones y acciones de las comunidades para poder sobrellevar la crisis socioambiental.
Petorca province in Chile highlights the devastating effects of climate change, which has been exacerbated in recent decades by the expansion of the agro-export and mining industries. Based on a qualitative approach, six semi-structured sedentary interviews and two walking interviews were conducted with two schools and two local rural organizations, and their discourses were then analyzed thematically based on their cognitive, affective, dispositional, and behavioral dimensions of environmental awareness (EA). Findings show that autobiographical experiences and their affective dimension are structural elements in the adaptive dispositions to cope with water scarcity in the territory, much more so than purely cognitive aspects. It was concluded that the EA analyzed in the interviewees manifests the intersection of experiential and affective elements, which add a meaning as profound as it is complex to the dispositions and actions of the communities in order to cope with the socio-environmental crisis
