El objetivo del número monográfico ‘Mediatización en la enseñanza y el desarrollo’ es introducir a la audiencia en la discusión del uso teórico y práctico del concepto de mediatización. La mediatización es uno de los conceptos esenciales en la teoría del desarrollo cultural de Vygotsky (Vygotsky, 1983). La mediatización debe entenderse como la utilización de medios culturales externos e internos. El concepto de mediatización tiene una relación directa con el concepto de la naturaleza semiótica de la naturaleza humana (Lotman, 2001, 2019; Eco, 2005), porque los medios (instrumentos psicológicos o signos; Vygotsky, 1983) se ajustan a los elementos de la cultura humana general. Todos los instrumentos psicológicos, como medios de la actividad humana, son de origen histórico y han aparecido como resultado de un largo desarrollo de la sociedad. No es posible imaginar ningún tipo de sociedad humana sin medios culturales como producto de esta sociedad. Durante su desarrollo individual, el ser humano adquiere dichos medios psicológicos del plano externo dentro del proceso de colaboración social mediante el trabajo, el arte, la educación y otros tipos de actividades.
The aim of the Special Issue ‘Mediatization in teaching and development’ is to introduce the audience to the discussion of the theoretical and practical use of the concept of mediatization. The concept of mediatization is one of the essential concepts of Vygotsky’s theory of cultural development (Vygotsky, 1983). Mediatization should be understood as the use of cultural external and internal means. The concept of mediatization has a direct relation to the concept of the semiotic nature of human nature (Eco, 2005; Lotman, 2001, 2019), because the means (psychological instruments or signs; Vygotsky, 1983) conform to the elements of general human culture. All psychological instruments, as means of human activity, are of historical origin and have appeared as the result of a long development of society. It’s not possible to imagine any kind of human society without cultural means as the product of this society. During one’s individual development, the human being acquires such psychological means from the external plane within the process of social collaboration through labour, art, education and other kinds of activities.
