This paper explores the presence of unbound psychic elements in contemporary psychoanalytic clinical practice, particularly in adolescents and adults who present compulsive phenomena, addictive behaviors, and failures in symbolization. From the perspective of clinical metapsychology, it analyzes the relationship between excitation, death drive, helplessness, and failures in psychic binding, proposing a diagnostic and technical model that prioritizes clinical reading over classical interpretation. The main axes include the subject’s drive life, key moments in the structuring of the psychic apparatus, and the analyst’s stance in the face of current symptomatology. The study integrates concepts from Freud, Bleichmar, and Maldavsky, combining theory with clinical vignettes that highlight the urgency of interventions aimed at building psychic bindings and symbolic processes, rather than relying on traditional interpretative or corrective approaches. It calls for a revision of the psychoanalytic setting in response to new forms of psychic suffering.
