Abstract In this essay, the expression of the symptom in postmodern society is approached through the reading of the symptom through the stages of infantile omnipotence. At first, the relationship between symptom and expression is clarified, considering the second as an observable part of the first and a flow path. In sequence, specificities of the virtual universe and its relations with the psychoanalytic symptom are addressed. At the end, considerations on the need for emancipation in view of the alienating potential of symptoms.
Resumo Neste ensaio é abordada a expressão do sintoma na sociedade pós-moderna por meio da leitura do sintoma e dos estágios da onipotência infantil. No início é esclarecida a relação entre sintoma e expressão, considerando-se a segunda como parte observável da primeira e via de vazão. Na sequência são abordadas especificidades do universo virtual e suas relações com o sintoma psicanalítico. Ao final, considerações sobre a necessidade da emancipação frente ao potencial alienante dos sintomas.
