Abstract We intend to discuss the thesis that the writing of the symptom occurs both through the signifying inscription, with its consequent chaining, and through the effect of what falls as the remainder of this operation and is fixed as jouissance and summons a letter. Following Lacan’s trail in The instance of the letter in the unconscious, we begin our discussion with Freud’s condensation and displacement, seeking to understand the symptom as a metaphor for the question of being, and desire as the metonymy of a lack. Then, continuing with other texts by Lacan, we aim to show that jouissance sustains the differential trait that chained signifiers carve in symptomatic repetitions.
Resumo Pretendemos discutir a tese de que a escrita do sintoma se dá tanto pela inscrição significante, com seu consequente encadeamento quanto pelo efeito do que cai como resto dessa operação e se fixa como gozo, e convoca uma letra. Seguindo a trilha de Lacan em A instância da letra no inconsciente, começamos a nossa discussão com a condensação e o deslocamento, de Freud, buscando entender o sintoma como a metáfora da questão do ser, e o desejo como a metonímia de uma falta. Em seguida, continuando com outros textos de Lacan, objetivamos mostrar que o gozo sustenta o traço diferencial que os significantes encadeados entalham nas repetições sintomáticas.
