The planning, establishment and development of the Carajás Railway and its social consequences in the locations affected by the project, are reasons for stories, news, debates and reflections. Approaching through a historical, documentary and literary analysis the construction of the pharaonic Estrada de Ferro Carajás, we realize that just like literature, journalistic sources can be considered as historical sources. The work aims to carry out an analysis of the work TREM, by the author Gutemberg Guerra, as well as news related to the social impacts of the CR to bring the reflection of how the stories, memories, traumas, forgetfulness and pain experienced by the inhabitants of Carajás can be erased in the same way as the numerous mountains of ores constantly explored.

O planejamento, a instauração e o desenvolvimento da Estrada de Ferro Carajás (EFC) e as suas consequências sociais nas localidades atingidas pelo empreendimento, são motivos de histórias, notícias, debates e reflexões. Abordando através de uma análise histórica, documental e literária a construção da faraônica Estrada de Ferro Carajás, percebemos que assim como a literatura, as fontes jornalísticas podem ser consideradas como fontes histórica. O trabalho tem como objetivo realizar uma análise da obra TREM, do escritor Gutemberg Guerra, bem como notícias vinculadas aos impactos sociais da EFC para trazer a reflexão de como as histórias, as memórias, os traumas, o esquecimento e as dores vivenciadas pelos habitantes de Carajás podem ser apagados da mesma forma que as numerosas montanhas de minérios constantemente exploradas.
