Los avances científicos y tecnológicos en medicina impactan en la prevención y mejora de la salud, incrementando la esperanza de vida. Ante ello, surge la voluntad anticipada, de carácter jurídico y médico, y su finalidad es que el paciente tenga derecho de decidir morir dignamente en un proceso natural. El objetivo del estudio fue identificar mediante una red semántica la percepción de un grupo de profesionales de enfermería sobre la voluntad anticipada a través de una investigación no experimental descriptiva y una muestra no probabilística intencional de 63 enfermeras de tres hospitales de tercer nivel de atención de la ciudad de Toluca y de la Ciudad de México. En la red semántica, se obtuvieron 192 palabras, implicando una gran riqueza. Las 10 palabras definidoras con mayores valores reflejan la noción de la voluntad anticipada como un derecho libre del paciente de decidir morir con dignidad y señalan que el rol del personal de salud es de respeto y empatía.
Scientific and technological advances in medicine impact on the prevention and improvement of health, increasing life expectancy. Given this, the advance directive arises, of a legal and medical nature, and its purpose is that the patient has the right to decide to die with dignity through natural processes. The objective of this study was to identify, through a semantic network, nursing professional perception of advance directives using non-experimental descriptive research and an intentional non-probabilistic sample of 63 nurses from three tertiary care hospitals located in Toluca and Mexico City. In the semantic network, 192 words were obtained, implying great richness. The 10 defining words with the highest values reflect the notion of advance directives as a free right of the patient to decide to die with dignity and indicate that the role of health personnel is one of respect and empathy.
